summer reading

Summer seems to be flying by! And my reading has picked up since I finished the baby blanket for Miss Hannah.

Recently I finished Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion. I normally prefer more current books but I was inspired when I came across a display of required summer reading at Borders. I had just binged on The Girl who Played with Fire and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest back to back and thought a little change of pace would be nice. I decided to pick up To Kill a Mockingbird. Reading it a second time around was much more satisfying, more meaningful than when I read it twenty years ago.

I just started reading the new book in the Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French called Faithful Place. I really enjoyed her two previous books, In the Woods and The Likeness; she keeps you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend both.

Up next is likely The World is Flat (we all need a little non-fiction every so often) which I had in my little hands over the weekend at Borders, but Faithful Place made the cut.

work in progess

I am happy to report the left side of my brain was made of use over the weekend, but not to the extent I was hoping for.

I spent most of Saturday afternoon and early evening cooking for the coming week. By the time we were done eating dinner I was exhausted! So instead of 3 hours of scrapping, I only got one hour. Here is a sneak peak of what will probably one of my favorite pages ever.

As you can see I'm not quite done yet, and I still need to add a couple things. But I'm so excited about the whole scrapping process again, even dug into an oldie, but goodie.  Can you recognized what it is?

Have a great week! xo

aloha friday

Ready to ditch the work week and say alo-ha to a little of this!

I took these pictures a couple months ago the last time we grilled for ourselves and forgot to post them. Love our tri-tip! The secret is Basque marinade which is just delish. Think this means we need to grill again soon, unfortunately it won't be this weekend.

Lots on the to-do list for this weekend (no surprises there), but I'm hoping to carve out some time for more than just cooking and cleaning including a few creative endeavours.

Happy weekend! xo

good weekend

As usual the weekend has come and gone in the snap of a finger. And here I am on Sunday night wondering just where it went. It wasn't all a loss. Amid the normal errands, cooking and chores, I was able to sneak in some scrap time. As you can see I am still working on my 2010 December Daily! How embarrassing, right? And I had an unexpected surprise when I found a great trench coat at Old Navy at an awesome price. All and all it was a great weekend.
