sin city
Jay and I just got back from a couple days in Las Vegas yesterday for an anniversary and early birthday celebration. Loved it, but wow! It. was. HOT. Seriously could not walk from one hotel to another without breaking into a sweat. Forget about looking cute, once you pass through the doors you simply melt. We had planned on lounging by the pool, but decided staying indoors was more our speed.

Tomorrow night I'm playing catch-up with the Pillars of the Earth series with some knitting on the side. And also looking forward to catching up with some much needed sleep.

hawaii
I am having a difficult time reconciling in my mind that it June. I think, however, that I probably had a harder time believing last month was May given the totally ridiculous weather. Obviously, the highlight of May was our week in Hawaii visiting family and relaxing! Jay & I got out of Honolulu and spent a few days on the Big Island. We stayed at a resort which, for whatever reason, was practically deserted. Big plus for us; less hustle & bustle, more lounging. And for the first time, I didn't bring a book for poolside reading forcing me to actually get into the pool or lagoon to cool off. I had fun, but I think I missed out on a lot because I'm just not comfortable swimming.

december recap
December was so jam packed with such good stuff that I hardly had a chance to blog.

With the New Year upon I just want to wish everyone the best in the coming year!
- a week in Lake Tahoe snowboarding and relaxing (because one day of snowboarding requires an equal amount of recovering)
- last minute Christmas cards (though I actually managed to mail them before Christmas day) and shopping
- dinner at Aqua in San Francisco and Cirque du Soleil's Ovo with friends
- Christmas lunch with Jay's side of the family at our home
- a chocolate cake baking disaster
- major movement on baby blanket

anniversary dinner
While I thoroughly enjoyed the "lounge-by-the-pool/beach" part of our vacation, I must admit that the true highlight (okay, besides seeing the turtle while snorkling) was our anniversary dinner at Alan Wong's Restaurant! From start to finish, it was truly a memorable meal. (Sorry, no pictures of the awesome food, too blurry!)

Had to share the good stuff though: dessert! So yummy!
